Christmas Morning

This is what single, 20-something, females look like at 9:30 am Christmas morning when there are no little kids around. Ya, we had to wake Becca and Millie up. April was awake but procrastinating getting out of bed.

Next year will definitely be a bit different!Yes, Becca is sleeping in Caleb's "Cars" bed.These rooms kind of look like Easter egg colors when you look at one after another.More differences- everyone was more hungry than anxious to open presents. Yummy traditional Christmas breakfast. Ring-a-lings, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, eggnog and OJ. Becca is so excited to have her picture taken!


The girls all happy with their "haul" which was not at all techie this year. All homey stuff.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was pretty quiet. We finished everything we needed to do by about 4:00. We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, yum. That is our tradition when there are no little kids visiting for Christmas Eve. Then we went to check out the Klingler's light show, very awesome! When we got home we put on our pajamas on and read the Night Before Christmas, Dave shared some meaningful thoughts and then Becca had us have "happy thought" time. Most of the presents were already under the tree which is unusual for our house. We usually wait until everyone goes to bed so it is a bigger suprise and it looks like you have a bigger Christmas. So there really wasnt much to do except fill stockings. So we played a game. What else are 6 adults going to do on Christmas Eve when everything is done? I should add who the 6 adults were- Dave and me, Camille, Becca, April and Will.Becca and Millie enjoying the lights The string of lights are actually on the entrance wall, this is a funky picture

Christmas Open House

Every year my neighbor, Janeal, has a Christmas Open House. I am her official partner in this adventure. We actually started doing it 8 years ago. A bunch of us were kind of dissapointed that the ward had cancelled the December Enrichment. "Everyone was too busy". I guess it would have been ok but they were dividing our ward at that time also. We wanted to get together. So we started this tradition. We had over 50 people there the first year. Everyone wanted to come talk about the new wards and get together for one last time. Everyone just brought a treat to share and came and visited for a while. Well, it was such a hit that we continued it every year since. It seems it is a different group every year, some new some old. But most everyone that has been coming the whole time looks forward to it. We even get calls to find out when it will be! We have 2 ladies that come that are not members so we say it is our "missionary effort". It is one of the few times these ladies associate with the neighbors. The new tradition is that if you come you get one of Janeal's homemade "scrubbies". They are great and some ladies come just for that. Anyway, it is a busy but fun day!

Over the River and Through the Woods

A few days before Christmas we went to Salt Lake to pick up Becca from the airport. She flew in about midnight. She was on a late flight to begin with but it was delayed. We spent a little time with Grandma Cannon, Mindy, and the kids the next morning and then decided to stop in Logan to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Griffiths. This was our scary drive up Sardine Canyon.

I pretty much kept my eyes closed the whole way up and down the canyon. I have started to have anxiety attacks whenever there are slippery roads. It may have something to do with being in two accidents due to snowy roads in 2008. One in January and one in June, yes, I said June.

This is a little road that takes you from the grandparents house to the main road. It gives real meaning to the song "Over the River and Through the Woods". It is quite picturesque and makes you feel like you are in another time or place, but can be a little scary. The other night we were driving this same lane and there were 2 deer standing right by the side of the road, just about this same place. How fun!

Pathetic attempt at Decorating our Yard

I have been putting off blogging because I am the Ward Historian and I have had to work on my 2008 history book every spare moment for the entire month of January! Then we went out of town and I had to catch up on everything from being gone. So here we are, starting the second week of February and I am ready to blog! I made of list of entries and came up with over a dozen. We will see how it goes. I am doing this mostly to document the last two months so if you are not interested in looking be my guest to skip my blog for a week or so. I am trying to do them in order so at least they make sense.


This one goes way back. We actually had some men at our house at Thanksgiving so we had some real help to put up Christmas lights outside. I'm sure without the help there would have been nothing! So here is our pathetic attempt at decorating our yard.
